The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the continued viability of constitutional freedoms in accordance with the principles of justice set forth in Scripture. As a public interest law firm, the ACLJ is dedicated to the concept that freedom and democracy are God-given inalienable rights that must be protected both nationally and internationally. The ACLJ engages in litigation, provides legal services, advises and advises clients, and assists attorneys involved in defending Americans` religious and civil liberties. The American Center has a nationwide network of lawyers dedicated to defending Judeo-Christian values. The ACLJ emerged in part as a right-wing political response to the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union.  The name and acronym, ACLJ, were chosen to distinguish themselves from the ACLU.  She has attracted much media attention for her prosecutions, such as her campaign against amendments to Kenya`s constitution that the group says would allow abortion and Islamic law, and her attempts to block the construction of an Islamic cultural center near the former site of the World Trade Center.  The ACLJ supported the blocking of the center`s construction by the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission.
