W&L offers binding early decision and non-binding due process request options. Each option has its own deadlines, so you can choose the option that works best for you. As our app states, personal statements should not exceed three pages (double-spaced and Times New Roman 12-point font). Regular decision applicants who meet the January 1 deadline will receive their admission decision by April 1, along with details of any needs-based financial grants or merit-based scholarships for which they may be eligible. We are ready to take your application as sufficient proof of your interest in law studies, so you do not have to convince us of the sincerity of your ambition. Remember, we`re trying to get a sense of the voice you might bring to campus. While you talk a lot about law at W&L, we`re looking to get a sense of what might influence your contribution to the conversation. (Back to top) Due to its binding nature, the submission of a request for a rapid decision requires careful consideration. We recommend that you discuss this option with parents and your high school counsellor, as well as our admissions and financial aid staff, before deciding on this option. Students who designate Washington and Lee as their college of choice can apply through our Early Decision (ED) program. By applying Early Decision, students agree to register with W&L upon admission and to withdraw all other applications to the university, regardless of country, immediately upon confirming their intention to enroll in W&L with a reservation deposit. You must submit your application as soon as possible. Our app will be available around August 20th. The Admissions Committee aims to admit candidates who demonstrate the ability to succeed in law school. Each completed application is verified holistically. A variety of factors beyond academic references and LSAT or GRE scores are considered as part of this holistic review. Other factors considered include, but are not limited to, the candidate`s proven writing skills, letter of recommendation, work experience, service, academic rigour, proven work ethic, relevant skills, contribution to a diverse educational environment, and character.

Starting with the 2021-2022 admission cycle, all applicants must complete the LSAT or GRE. To register for GRE, visit the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website. To submit your GRE score, log in to your ETS account and select Washington and Lee University School of Law with institution code ETS 2937. You must submit all ERM results for the last five (5) years. Please note that LSAT scores will be provided directly to us in your SAE LSAC report, whether or not you have also completed the GRE, and the LSAT score will be taken into account when reviewing your application. W&L Law does not prefer two tests to the other and is also considered as part of a holistic review of the application. (Back to top) How do I apply? If you are using a subsequent LSAT, we recommend that you submit an application now and submit the various components of your Credential Assembly Service (EAS) report to LSAC. This way, your file will be complete (and therefore verifiable) much sooner than if you wait to receive your results to begin the application process or submit other required documents to LSAC. As mentioned above, we will review all aspects of your file when we make our admission decision, and these letters, as well as the more personal and qualitative aspects of your application, are our only meaningful opportunity to get a feel for you as a person.
